Soak bran in juice for 10 minutes. Add molasses, beaten eggs and oil; miz thoroughly. In a separate bowl, mix 1-3/4 cups of the flour , baking powder and salt. Dredge date pieces in the remaining 1/4 cup of flour; this keeps the dates from sinking to the bottom of the muffins. Mix all the ingredients until just combined--DON'T OVERMIX! Spoon into well-oiled muffin tin, filling cups to the top. Bake 25-30 minutes.
